Louise Anna Meals, 81, of Nevada, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Bethany Life, in Story City, surrounded by family members. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thursday, December 20, and funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday, December 21, with Pastor David Burling officiating, both held at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial will follow at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.
Louise and her twin brother Lowell were born in Carroll, Iowa on April 30, 1937, the daughter and son of Louis and Anna Rickers. Louise graduated from Westside High School, where she was the editor of the school newspaper, with the class of 1955. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and later completed her education at Iowa Central Community College. Louise was united in marriage to Ronald Dean Meals on December 18, 1955, and to this union five children were born. Louise was active in her roles as a mother and homemaker as well as working outside the home, eventually retiring from the National Farmers Organization. Throughout her life she and her husband were avid camping enthusiasts, especially travelling to spend time exploring new places and visiting family at every opportunity. Louise was a faithful Christian throughout her entire life and an example to her large family.
Louise is survived by her children Randall (Linda), of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Rebecca (Jack) Carl, of Towanda, Kansas; Steven, of Sarasota, Florida; Timothy (Latifah), of Ames; and Brian, of Des Moines; her grandchildren, Lori, Thomas, Stephanie, Mathew, David, Christina, Anna, Jacob, Brianna, and Azaria; her great-grandchildren Kennedy and Felix; her brother Ivan of Westside, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald, her parents, brothers Vernon, Lloyd, and Lowell, and a grandson, Jayson.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Louise, to the Alzheimer’s Association-Greater Iowa Chapter or to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics-Stroke Clinic.
