Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.
Sharon Zagar, 89, of Huxley passed away December 9, 2018 at Israel Family Hospice House. Visitation will be 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, December 14 at the Trinity Methodist Church in Huxley. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 15 at the Trinity Methodist Church in Huxley. Burial will be in the Slater Cemetery.
Sharon Lee Zagar was born on August 9, 1929, the daughter of Edgar and Margaret Accola in Collins, Iowa. After settling in Slater in 1937, Sharon attended the Slater school system and graduated in 1947. Sharon married John Zagar on November 5, 1949. She was an accomplished seamstress, but her real talent was doll making. Her talent as a doll painter, seamstress ability and attention to detail were second to none. She won many ribbons and Best of Show at the Iowa State Fair. In the spring, you would always see her tending to her vegetable, hosta and flower gardens. Most of all she worked hard at being a mom and as far as we are concerned we couldn’t have had a better one.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; John and grandson, Troy. Sharon is survived by her son; Phil (Lynne) Zagar of Ankeny, daughters, JoEllyn (Tom) Bennett of Ankeny and DeAnn Zagar of Ankeny; sisters Carmen (David) Lovell of Ankeny, Rowena (Nels) Nord of Huxley; ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Israel Family Hospice House.
