Funeral Services Held Here Saturday for Edw. T. Raimer

Funeral rites for Edward T. Raimer, 75, who died at the house of his brother-in-law Mac Appelgate, here Thursday, September 30, were held at the Morfoot Funeral home, Saturday at 2 p.m., with Rev. O. E. Cooley of the Nevada Methodist church in charge. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

The services for this native born son of Story county were attended by a large group of relatives and old neighbors and friends, including his only brother, John Raimer and wife of Forest City.

Edward Thomas Raimer, son of George and Adeline Raimer was born near Maxwell, Iowa on Nov. 12, 1868 and passed away on Sept. 30, 1943, at the home of his brother-in-law, L. M. Appelgate in Nevada, his age being 74 years, 10 months, and 18 days.

Mr. Raimer's death followed an illness of only a few days. He had been in his usual health until he suffered a heart attack while at work in the county yards where he was employed in road and bridge maintenance work. A second attack occurred later and at 1:40 p.m. Thursday he slipped quietly away.

On May 3, 1905 he was united in marriage to Sarah A. Appelgate. His wife preceded him in death in August 1911. Since that time Mr. Raimer has maded his home at the home of his brother-in-law and family, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Appelgate. His entire life was spent in and near Nevada with the exception of a shorn time spent farming in the state of Wyoming.

Mr. Raimer was one of nine children. Four sisters and three brothers have preceded him in death. One brother, John Raimer of Forest City, Iowa, survives.

He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
