DEATHS
John M. Ose
Funeral services for John M. Ose were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City, on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. with Rev. C. A. Gisselquist officiating.
Mrs. Harold Olson was organist and accompanied LeRoy Hill, soloist.
Interment was in Story City Municipal Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Roy Sweet, Roy Gaard, Edwin T. Hauge, B. W. Jacobson, Irving Wierson and Magne Idse.
Honorary pall bearers were Serral Munsen, Carl Sondall, P. Jacobson, B. E. Gandrup, L. H. Monson, Russell H. Leonard, A. Peterson, Dr. C. E. Semler, Ed Peterson, Glen Coffman and Arnold Jacobson.
John M. Ose, son of Aanen and Safia Aase, was born in Haugesund, Norway on May 21, 1890 and died at the Story City Memorial Hospital on Tuesday morning, Oct. 6, following a week's illness at the age of 80 years and 4 1/2 months.
He came to Iowa in 1910.
On July 3, 1915, he was united in marriage to Agnes Swenson. To this union were born three sons and one daughter.
Mr. Ose was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City for 58 years during which time he had served as a trustee, Sunday school teacher, on various committees and also sang in the choir.
He was engaged in construction and hardware business and was active until the past four years. He had served as a member of the town council; as committeeman for the Fund Hospital, a member of Greater Hospita; a member of Greater Community Congress and various community organizations and projects and as developer of several subdivisions to Story City. He was an avid Sports fan.
In 1969, he was presented a Citizen's Award by the Story City Lions Club, for a Lifetime of Outstanding Community Service.
Survivors include his wife Agnes; two sons and one daughters, Edgar and Joel Ose and Mrs. Kenneth (Joann) Peterson, all of Story City; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Roy Oss of Duluth, Minn. and two sisters, Aasta and Johanna in Norway.
Preceding Mr. Ose in death were his parents, one son, Alvan, who gave his life in W.W. II; two brothers and three sisters.
