Committal Service For Jos. A. Mills Held On Tuesday

The Nevada cemetery on Tuesday afternoon was beautiful with its trees and flowers and well kept lawn when friends gathered for the brief service for the later Joseph A. Mills, 58, whose sudden death occurred in Chicago on June 14.

The Dr. E. William Remley of the Collegiate Presbyterian church in Ames officiated at the last rites. Burial was in the family lost in the Nevada cemetery.

Among those present for the brief service were the brother, Dr. Frederic T. Mills and wife of Chicago and Mrs. Elmer Preston of Des Moines, besides a large number of longtime freinds from Nevada and elsewhere.

A Native Son.

Joseph Alderman Mills was born in Nevada March 31, 1894, a son of Joseph Addison Mills and Minnie Alderman Mills. He was a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Alderman, founders of the city of Nevada.

He was a graduate of the Nevada high school and also of the University of Wisconsin in 1917. He was an Ensign with the Pacific Fleet during World War I.

Following World War I he was in the banking business in Nevada until 1933 when he went into Chicago being with Marshall Field and Company for many years. The past three years he had been with an architectural firm in Chicago.

Immediately surviving are his mother, Minnie Alderman Mills of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and a brother, Dr. Frederic T. Mills of Chicago. Many hearts were filled with love for the mother, 92, who was unable to be present for the services.
