Funeral Services For Miss Ethel Hall
Funeral services for Miss Ethel Hall were held Monday, March 16, at Mason City.
Burial was made in the Nevada cemetery.
Obituary
Ethel Pauline Hall was born at Nevada, Iowa, October 8, 1879. She was the second daughter of George W. and Edna P. Hall.
Her early life was spent in and around Nevada, where she attended school and took up Normal training in preparation for her life vocation in the field of education.
She taught in rural schools in and around Nevada from 1897 until 1900. She then taught in grade schools of Nevada from December 31, 1900, until the close of school year in 1914-1915, except the year of 1905-1906, when she attended Iowa State Teachers college. A total of 13 years.
In 1915 she took a position with the Mason City schools where she continued for 34 years or until her retirement in June, 1949.
Following her retirement, she was not too well, and gave up housekeeping in 1950. She entered the Poole Rest Home in Mason City until March 7 of this year, when following a stroke, she was taken to Mercy hospital, Mason City, where she passed away March 12, 1953. At the time of her death she was 74 years, five months and four days of age.
She was a member of the D. A. R. and W.S.C.S. of the Methodist church.
She leaves to mourn her passing two nephews, Carrol H. Foote, address unknown, and Paul N. Foot, of Sioux City, two cousins Alta B. Hall of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Edna French of Nevada, and a host of friends, associate teachers and many former pupils.
