Torkel Hill Dies in Washington On Vacationing Trip
Torkel Hill, 67, Story City, died Friday, August 18, at Olympia, Wash. where he and his wife were visiting relatives.
Born in Story City October 28, 1899, his parents were H.J. and Martha Hill. He was in the plumbing and heating business in Story City until his retirement a few years ago and was a veteran of World War I as well as a member of the Story City American Legion Post.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, the former Olive Sheie [should be Skeie]; two sons, Donald of Rockville, Maryland, and Kenneth of Sunnyvale, Calif.; six grandchildren; six sisters - Mrs. Tom B. (Martha) Olson, Mrs. Carrie Endreland and Miss Marie Hill, all of Story City, Mrs. W.B. (Jennie) Coulter of Washington, D.C., and Misses Felma and Judith Hill of Des Moines; and two brothers, Edwin of Petin, Wisc. and Stanford of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 21 at 2 p.m. in the Bethel Lutheran Church in Story City with Rev. William A. Gregerson officiating. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. The Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home, Story City, was in charge.
