Service Here Mon. For Oscar Jorgenson
Funeral services for Oscar Jorgenson were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. W. R. Tuttle officiating.
Miss Virginia Bierschwal, organist, played a number of sacred hymns before and after the service.
The casket bearers were Andrew Egeland, Otis Egeland, Earl Hansen, Harold Hansen, Frank Menzel and Lawrence Rierson.
Burial was in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery.
Obituary
Oscar Jorgenson was the son of Andrew and Anna Jorgenson, a well known pioneer family living five miles northwest of Nevada. He was born June 4, 1880 at the old family homestead and spent his earlier years farming the home place.
In 1911 he purchased a farm near Marathon where he had resided ever since. He retired from farming a few years ago and purchased a home in Marathon. His cheerful disposition made everyone his friend.
The past several years he had several serious illnesses and about three months ago was hospitalized, and cared for in the Mysles Nursing Home in Primghar where his death occurred Thursday morning, July 16, at the age of 79 years.
Oscar was the youngest of 10 children. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers, and is survive by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Hansen of McCallsburg, and Mrs. Kate Egeland of Roland, and by a number of nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends were in attendance at the services from Marathon, Roland, Huxley, McCallsburg, Ames and Nevada.
