Last Rites for F. O. Arnett Held At Adventist Church

Funeral services for the later F. O. Arnett, which were held at the Seventh Day Adventist church Thursday afternoon, Oct. 17, were attended by many relatives and friends gathered to pay a last tribute of respect to a highly respected citizen.

The services were in charge of Elders A. H. Miller and C. A. Larsen, who officiated at the church and in the Nevada cemetery where he was laid to rest.

Mrs. A. H. Olson had charge of the flowers which were expressive of the love and esteem in which the deceased was held.

The Girls Quartette from Oak Park Academy sang "A Present Help" and "Asleep in Jesus" and here was a special recording of "Beyond the Sunset" by W. C. Foreman, now of Walla Walla, Wash.

The pall bearers were Lawrence Johnston, Isaac Hornbacher, Dan Hornbacher, M. E. Smith, John Betts and Henry Jensen.

Committal was in the Nevada cemetery.

The following obituary was read at the service.

"F. O. Arnett was born Aug. 6, 1870, at Poweshiek county, Iowa, and passed away at his home, 837 Q avenue, Sunday evening at 9:30 Oct. 13, 1946 at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 7 days. He was the second and last surviving child of John S. and Margaret Arnett. At the age of eleven he moved with his parents to Fort Dodge, and when he was seventeen he came to Nevada, where he spent the remainder of his life, with the exception of a short stay a Lincoln, Nebraska.

"He was united in marriage to Hattie Tetwiler on Jan. 14, 1890, and to this union was born nine children, one of which, Mrs. Wendell Phillips, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie Arnett of Nevada, and the surviving children are Mrs. Robert Johnson of Eden Valley, Minnesota, Mrs. Clarence Luther of Marathon, Iowa, Mrs. Loyd Phillips of Salem, Oregon, Mrs. Thomas Evans of San Luis Obispo, California, Frank Arnett of Nevada, Iowa, Archie Arnett of Phoenix, Arizona, and Ernest and Earl Arnett of San Luis Obispo, California. Twenty-one grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren also mourn his passing.

All the children were present at the funeral services but the daughter Ruth who lives in Salem, Oregon, and the son Earl in San Luis Obispo, California. Beautiful floral offerings were received from the nieces, Mrs. Griffen, wife of Dr. Ross Griffen of Harlan, and Mrs. Chas. Pitcher of Fort Dodge.
