Funeral Rites for Hans Jacobson Tuesday Morning

Funeral rites for Hans Jacobson, who died Sunday morning after a short illness, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Morfoot, were held at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, June 13, 1944, at the Morfoot Funeral Home with Dr. J. O. Simon of the Memorial Lutheran church officiating.

Interment was at the Nevada cemetery. The services were well attended by old neighbors and friends gathered to pay a final tribute to one whom they had long known and respected.

The floral offerings were many and beautiful. During the service Harry Christianson was at the organ.

The pall bearers, selected from families of long time friends and neighbors, were D. Thor Swanson, Conrad Swanson, Alvin Nelson, John Picht, Fred Needham and Clarence Hilburn.

Hans Jacobson, the eldest son of Nels and Buell Jacobson, was born August 27, 1859 near Malmo, Sweden, where he spent his boyhood.

As a young man he came to America in the spring of 1880 and located near Ottawa, Illinois.

He was united in marriage to Miss Joanna Bengtson at Ottawa, on Sept. 21, 1892 and they established their home near Marseilles, Ill., where they lived until the spring of 1900 when they came to Iowa and settled in Richland township, where they continued to make their home until the illness of Mrs. Jacobson, who passed away at the Iowa Sanitarium, Oct. 14, 1941. Since that time he has made his home with his only daughter, in Nevada, at whose home he passed away at the age of 84 years, nine months and 14 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing his daughter, Mrs. Betsey Morfoot, Nevada, and one granddaughter, Mrs. Grace Emenegger, Atlanta, G.; three sisters, Mrs. Joanna Hook of San Bernardino, Calif.; Mrs. Amelia Swanson, Berkeley, Calif. and Mrs. Ellen Larson of Sweden; two brothers, Andrew and John Jacobson, in Sweden. His parents, one sister, Edith, and one brother, Nels, preceded him in death.

Relatives from a distance in attendance at the funeral services included Swan Palmer, Kingston, Ill., John Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Erickson and Mrs. Lloyd Olson, all of Boone.
