Funeral Services For Amos Hyden Held Tuesday Afternoon
Funeral service for Amos Hyden, who passed away at the Story County hospital Saturday evening, were held Tuesday afternoon, April 28, at 2 o'clock from the Dixon Funeral home with Rev. E. P. Windman of the Memorial Lutheran church officiating. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
Pall bearers were Harry Louks, C. S. Toot, Faye Ward, E. B. Ayers, Archie Otto and Ray Boyd.
Appropriate organ selections were played at the beginning and close of the service.
Obituary
Amos Ernest Hyden, one of the earliest settlers of Richland Township, passed away April 25, 1953 at the age of 90 years, two months and 23 days.
Mr. Hyden was born in Chase Town, near Walsall, Staffordshire, England, coming to America at the age of 12 with a cousin, George Hyden. He made his home near Fernald until his marriage to Nellie Adams on February 2, 1886. At this time they moved to a farm north east of Nevada.
To this union one child was born, Edith Mae. Mr. and Mrs. Hyden continued this life until 1908 at which time they retired and moved to Nevada. Mrs. Hyden passed away in 1928, Mr. Hyden joined the family home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Guy French.
Mr. Hyden leaves to mourn his death his daughter, Mrs. Edith French; three grandchildren, Mrs. Gayle Cordle, Mrs. Bertha Twedt and Lester French; his son-in-law, Guy French; four great grand children and seven great great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
