DEATH OF MRS. JAYNE

Ella Lodima Blackman was born in Rochester, New York, November 14, 1851 and died in Marion, Iowa at 3 p. m. December 14, 1927.

Her parents, John and Sophia Blackman, moved their family west by ox-team in 1863 locating near Norway, Iowa.

On November 8, 1881, she was united in marriage to David Jayne, of Iowa City. To this union five children were born, all of whom survive her. They are Mrs. Rudolph H. Harris, Morris, Minn., Mrs. Wayne W. Bradley, Washington, D. C., Perry Jayne, Theodore Jayne and Mrs. Clifford V. Howe of Cedar Rapids.

In 1885 Mr. and Mrs. David Jayne came to Marion, Iowa where they had continued to make their home until their death.

Two sisters survive Mrs. Jayne. They are Mrs. Jennie Allen, Ames, Iowa and Mrs. Julia Stevens, Nevada, Iowa.

During recent years Mrs. Jayne has been lame at the result of a fall but otherwise had enjoyed good health until eight weeks ago when she was seized with a stroke of paralysis from which she recovered consciousness only at times. During the years of her lameness and these weeks of serious illness she was most patient sufferer. Her friends and family found it a joy to care for her. Her entire family were with her much of the time and all present when the end came, except Clara Bradley who had just returned home after a two weeks visit at her mother's bedside.

During her youth Mrs. Jayne joined the church, later bringing her letter to the M. E. Church of Marion where she has continued a member.

She was a self-sacrificing, loving efficient mother and home keeper, a loyal, helpful friend and neighbor. She will be sorely missed by her family and circle of friends. She being peculiarly optimistic, never complaining if circumstances were hard, but always sweet, cheerful and helpful.

To such a heroic spirit Society owes much and now she has gained her reward. It can truly be said of such a mother, "Her Children Shall Rise Up and Call Her Blessed".

The funeral services will be held at the Pingrey Parlor Saturday afternoon at 2:30, with Rev. W. C. Perdew officiating. Interment in the family lot at Nevada, Iowa.
