Fred G. Dunahugh Dies Sunday P. M.; Funeral Wednesday

Fred G. Dunahugh, 73, 528 Fourth street, former Story county auditor, died Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Gilmore Nursing Home where he had been a patient since June 18, 1951, He had been ill since Sept. 3, 1950.

Funeral services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. Robert H. Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Nevada cemetery.

A resident of Nevada since the age of 14 years, he was the only son of Josiah and Margaret Dunahugh. He was born on a farm near Collins, July 5, 1875.

After finishing high school he went into the McCall and Fitchpatrick Abstract office, now the Story County Abstract Co. He also worked in the Smith and Son Abstract office in Nevada, now Batman-Sayers office and was employed for a time in a loan and abstract office in Chicago.

He served as deputy under County Auditor O. B. Peterson in 1906 after which he became Story county auditor serving for two year terms.

Mr. Dunahugh was freight cashier at the Northwestern station for 20 years. In 1930 he was appointed deputy auditor under Auditor Byron Dickey. While serving under Auditor Don Graft, illness prevented his continuing in the auditor's office.

On Oct. 25, 1905 he was united in marriage to Olive E. Thompson of Nevada.

Member of the Masonic Lodge, he was the oldest Past Master in service. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian church.

Surviving are the wife Olive, the son Marvin of Seattle, Wash., the daughter Martha of Nevada and grandson, Warren of Seattle, Wash.
