Obituary from Memorial Services of Iowa, Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa:

Gary Lee Cloud, 75, died August 31, 1018 at Bethany Manor in Story City.

A Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday September 5th at Ankeny Presbyterian Church, 317 SE Trilein Drive, Ankeny, Iowa. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 4th from 5 – 7 p.m., also at the church.

Gary was born December 8, 1942 in Dayton, Iowa to Harold and Mildred Cloud. He graduated in 1961 from high school in Storm Lake, Iowa and in 1965 from Buena Vista University with a BA, and he received his MA from University of Northern Iowa in guidance and counseling. He worked for three school systems before he began his career as middle school guidance counselor for Ankeny Community School district in 1972. He retired in 1999.

Gary married Julie Tymeson, on July 10, 1964 and they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this year. He was athletic most of his life and was proud of running road races; especially running and completing the Boston Marathon in 1986. He became a member of Ankeny Presbyterian Church in 1972 and served as a deacon, an elder, and clerk of session.

Gary is survived by his wife, Julie, two sons, Wade (Dena) Cloud and Lon Cloud; one granddaughter, Jessie; and one brother, Douglas (Leida).

He is preceded in death by one brother and his parents.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Gary's memory may be made to Ankeny Presbyterian Church or the Iowa Alzheimer's Association.
