William (Bill) Carroll Farrington, 77, of Nevada, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 8:54pm with his wife of 34 years Waynetta Farrington and son Mike Farrington by his side at the Israel Hospice House in Ames Iowa. Cremation Rights have been honored. There will be a memorial service Saturday September 22, 2018 at Heartland Baptist Church in Ames, IA at 2pm. Family and friends are welcome to a visitation Saturday September 22, 2018 at 1pm until time of services. Burial will be at a later date.
Bill was born March 21, 1941 to Sarah Levine Farrington and Olin Farrington in Nevada, Iowa. Bill Graduated from Nevada High School in 1960 where he held the track record for the 50 yard dash. After graduating Bill went to a technical school in Omaha where he studied body and fender repair. He married His first wife in 1962 in which he had 3 children. Bill traveled quite a bit throughout his life until he met the love of his life Waynetta Farrington and they married November 17, 1984. When marrying her he gained 2 step children.
Bill worked for Boeing for several years then for Kenworth as a painter. In most recent years he drove bus for Ames School District as well as church bus for Heartland Baptist Church until he became too Ill to do so. Bill and his wife have been members of Heartland Baptist Church for 30 years, where he will be missed deeply.
Bill loved spending time with his family and his kids and grandkids they have several fond memories, which they will cherish. A few are camping with his grandson, Saturday night races in Boone, his granddaughter sliding down the back of his chair, and many more. Bill was a die hard Kansas City Chiefs football fan and also liked the Iowa Hawkeyes. His favorite TV programs were The Price is Right and Sanford and Son's. He loved his dogs Pounche, Annabelle, Dusty, and most recent Nina. Bill took pride in all that he did. He was even caught mowing his yard when he was not supposed to be. He was there to help when needed and believed that you could do whatever it was. He has been described as someone who was gruff and hard on the outside but on the inside a big teddy bear.
Bill is survived by his wife Waynetta Farrington of Nevada, IA and her children Eric Schrank (Tia) of Colo, IA. His three children Mike Farrington (Janice Farthing) of Reasnor, IA, Connie Kurll (Dan Kurll) of Arkansas, and Karen Davis (Robert Davis) of Saint Joseph, MO, he is survived by a half-brother John Sorenson of Ames IA, numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by both of his parents Sarah and Olin Farrington, A brother Leslie Farrington at a very young age as well as a half-brother Larry Farrington at 6 years of age. Memorial contributions may be directed towards the family.
