Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

Susan E Carlson of Apple Valley, MN, passed away September 10, 2018. Funeral services will be held at Adams Funeral Home in Ames, IA on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Susan was born December 15, 1948 in Ames to Harlan and Mary (Holmes) Carlson. She was a graduate of Ames High School and received her RN degree in Des Moines. She continued her education and became a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. She also became a pilot and flew for a charter service in the Des Moines and Oklahoma City area. She moved to Apple Valley, MN in 1991 and worked at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis for 20 years. She worked for Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis until she retired in 2014. She spent many summer days fishing with parents and siblings in Northern Minnesota and Canada. Her passion was ancestry and genealogy and over the years traveled to Norway, Sweden, England and Scotland to research our family tree.

Susan is survived by three brothers, Tom (Maryann) Carlson, of Tucson, AZ, Gary (Diana) Carlson, of Blooming Prairie, MN, Norm (Kathy) Carlson, of Ames, IA, and one sister, Nancy Johnson, of Tucson, AZ.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Carlson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames or a charity of your choosing.
