PIONEER NEVADA WOMAN IS DEAD

FLORENCE DANA-COREY, MEMBER OF FIRST GRADUATING CLASS, DIED AT SEATTLE

Mrs. Florence Dana-Corey, died at Seattle, Washington, Sunday, September 27 according to word received by friends in Nevada. The funeral and interment was at Seattle, burial being by the side of her husband who died there a few months ago. Mrs. Corey had been ill for a year.

Mrs. Corey, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Dana, Nevada pioneers, was raised in Nevada and graduated with the first class from the Nevada high school with the class of 1877. She was back here for the homecoming five years ago, at which time all of the living members of the class were present.

Members of the class surviving Mrs. Corey are Mrs. Minnie A. Mills and Rose H. Murphey of Nevada, W. O. Payne of Des Moines and Lina Hamilton-Aurs of New York. Since the class was together for the reunion Dr. Peter Joor of Maxwell, another member of the class has died. Other deceased members of the class were Newton Simmons, Helen Harper and J. W. Hague.

The Dana family lived in Nevada for many years, the family home being at 1334 Fifth street; the present home of Mrs. Addie Cook. Mr. Dana was an attorney at law and was well known over the county.
