Funeral Services For Paul Lewis, 99 Held In Cambridge
Funeral services for Paul Lewis were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cambridge with Rev. H. A. Kroepel officiating. Mrs. Howard Erickson sang two songs "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. Donald Ryerson at the organ.
Casket bearers were Gayle Lee, Howard Erickson, Paul Saunders, Stanford Lewis and Kenneth Lewis and Irwin Erickson.
Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery at Marshalltown, Iowa.
Obituary
Paul Lewis was born on March 17, 1865 in Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in his native country, Thu, Norway.
At the age of 17, he came to the United States and settled in Marshalltown and Ames where he worked as a boiler maker and in Minnesota where he farmed until his retirement in 1944.
He was united in marriage to Mary Gunderson at Marshalltown, Iowa on May 25, 1889.
Surviving are two sons Samuel and Palmer Lewis of Willmar, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. Gunda Erickson of Cambridge, Mrs. Ann Brintnall of Ames, and Mrs. Marie Saunders of Phoenix, Ariz.; also 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.
Mr. Lewis died Friday morning, April 17, 1964 at the John Erickson home where he had lived the past 10 years.
