Sudden Death of Story City Man on New Years Day

Special to the Journal:
Story City, Jan. 2--The first tragedy to shock Story City in the New Year was the sudden death of Severin T. Brattebo, 62, long time resident and former grocer of this place.

Mr. Brattebo had been down town in his usual health on Saturday, but Sunday about 10:30 a. m. was found on the floor of his room suffering from effects of a stroke of apoplexy and died about 4:00 o'clock in the afternoon.

He leaves his wife, two sons and one daughter.

The daughter is Mrs. Harold Reimer of Milwaukee, while the sons are Byron and Robert Brattebo at home.

Mr. Brattebo, a native of Norway, Europe, was married to Miss Julia Brattebo in 1910. They lived at Perry for a few years, coming to Story City in 1913 and he was for many years associated with his father-in-law B. B. Brattebo in the grocery business.

The two families lived together and it was Mrs. Brattebo Sr., who found him in his room, while his family was at church during the morning. While definite funeral arrangements have not been made, it is probable that the services will be held Wednesday. Besides his family here, he leaves two brothers in Norway.
