Funeral Services Held Friday for Mrs. J. H. Bovey
Funeral rites were held Friday afternoon at the Bishop Funeral home for Mrs. J. H. Bovey, who died at her home 1424 Third street Tuesday evening, following a long invalidism.
The service was in charge of Rev. C. E. Lookingbill with songs by Mrs. Kenneth Rapp and Mrs. Yackel accompanist.
Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
There was a large group of old neighbors and friends present at the service to join the few relatives in an expression of a final tribute of love and respect for the deceased.
Mrs. J. H. Bovey was born Martha Susan Haynes in Carroll county, Ill., Oct 30, 1853, and passed away in Nevada, Sept. 12, 1939, at the age of 85 years, 10 months and 12 days. She was the fifth child in a family of seven children born to Mathew and Elizabeth Rinehart Haynes, and is the last member of father's family to pass away.
At the age of twelve years she came with her parents to Iowa. The settled first in Story county, near Colo. A few years later the family moved to Boone county where they established their permanent home, and where both parents passed away.
On November 25, 1897, Martha Susan Haynes and John H. Bovey were united in marriage in 1907 they moved to Solon Springs, Wis., and two years later they went to Nebraska, where they lived until 1917, when they came to Nevada and have since resided.
Mrs. Bovey has been an invalid for many years, during which time she had been tenderly cared for by her aged husband. She had also been almost totally blind as the result of an injury to her eyes in early childhood.
Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Bovey united with the Methodist church in which Mrs. Bovey retained her membership until her death.
She leaves her husband and a host of relatives. A niece, Mrs. W. A. McKibben, and a nephew Mr. Wm. T. Haynes, reside in Nevada.
