Death Takes G. V. Barker, Longtime Story Resident

NEVADA: Mr. Gordon V. Barker, 45, R. 1, died Sunday afternoon in the Mary Greeley Hospital where he had been a patient the past eight days with a heart ailment.

Funeral services will be held from the Ryan Funeral Home, Wednesday afternoon at 3. Burial will be in the Nevada cemetery.

The deceased was born in Story county, Oct. 1, 1911, a son of A. C. and Mary H. Barker, and had lived in Story County his entire life. He was married Oct. 20, 1937 to Evelyn Berninger in Nevada, who survives him. He also survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary H. Barker.

Mr. Barker had served as Story County Assessor and also as Secretary of the Jefferson school board in Union township.
