Funeral Services In Collins For E. L. Patterson

Collins, Dec. 9--Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 for the late E. L. Patterson who died Wednesday, Nov. 26, in a hospital in California from a heart attack suffered earlier in the day.

Mr. Patterson and a friend had gone to California the week before and had expected to spend the winter visiting in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wanda Rose an son, Garth Patterson.

The services were held from the home in Collins and was n charge of Rev. Henry Esch, pastor of the local Church of Christ. Mr. K. W. Tomlins accompanied by Mrs. Fred Mead on the accordian sang three solos. They very lovely floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Thayer Derby, Mrs. Fred Renfeldt and Mrs. Lloyd Campbell.

Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Collins by the side of his wife who passed away in October, 1946. The pallbearers were Ray Tiffany, P. J. Wetrich, Lloyd Campbell, Amos Hanson, Thayer Derby and K. W. Tomlinson.

Leo Eldon Patterson, son of Charles and Alice A. Patterson was born May 35, 1879, at Collins. He spent his entire life in Collins with the exception of short intervals in Perry and Osceola. He was united in Marriage on Jan. 1, 1902, to Gertrude B. Mathews of Osceola. To this union three children were born: Carol White of Maxwell, Wanda Rose of Corte Madera, Calif., and Garth of San Rafael, Calif. In 1906 he became affiliate with the Church of Christ and was an active member for many years.

Besides his children he is survived by two brothers, Herman J. of Iola, Kansas and Milford L. of Smithton, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. Lavon Schlopkohl of Nevada, also a number of nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. His passing is a distinct loss to the community in which he has lived so long.

Among those from a distance attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Garth Patterson, San Rafael, Calif. ,Mrs. Wanda rose of Corte Madera, Calif., H. J. Patterson, Iola, Kan., Mr. and Mrs. Milford Patterson, Smithton, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nuzum of Sedalia, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Oral Halterman and son of Chicago.
