Last Rites For Nathaniel P. Guge Held on Monday

Funeral services for the late Nathaniel P. Guge, who passed away Friday, Nov. 28 were held Monday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the Morfoot Funeral Home with the Rev. E. R. Walter officiating.

The pallbearers were Harley Smith, John, Ralph and Andrew Brodie, nephews of the deceased, and Harold and Forrest Green, grand nephews.

Many lovely flowers banked the bier. During the service several appropriate hymns were played on the organ including "The Old Rugged Cross".

In addition to the funeral sermon Rev. Walter read the following obituary.

Obituary

Nathaniel P. Guge, son of Wm. H. and Eliza Guge, was born in Story county, on June 23, 1870 and passed away on Nov. 28th 1947 in Nevada, having reached the age of 77 years, five months and 5 days.

On May 29, 1893, he was united in marriage to Martha C. Jones at Iowa Center. To this union ten children were born. One child died in infancy. The children are as follows Mrs. Harry Louks, Mrs. Viola Haynes and Guy Guge of Nevada, Levi Guge of Alton, Kansas, Mrs. Grant Fuller, Cleveland, Ohio, John Guge, Belle Plaine, Eldon Guge who passed away at 25 years of age on Jan. 19, 1932, Mrs. Ed C. Anderson of Boone and Mrs. G. F. McDaniel of Sioux City.

Mrs. Guge preceded her husband in death in 1928. Mr. Guge leaves to mourn his departure his eight children, 18 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, besides two sisters, Mrs. Will Brodie of Ames and Mrs. Belle Mitchell of Ames and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. Guge spent most of his life in Story county excepting 11 years in Minnesota. He had been in failing health to past tow years. For the past few months he has made his home with his son Guy in Nevada. He was converted and united with the Evangelical church at Iowa Center.

M. Fisher, Mrs. Charles Hazen, Miss Mary Tehan, Mr. Fred Benda of Belle Plaine; Mr. and Mrs. Larson, Huxley; Mrs. G. F. McDaniel and family, Sioux City; and Mr. and Mrs. Ed C. Anderson and son, Boone.
