FORMER LINCOLN FARMER IS DEAD

FRANCES JOHNSON HAD LIVED NEAR ZEARING FOR MANY YEARS

Zearing, Dec. 23--A message was received here Saturday morning by relatives telling of the death of Frances Johnston, father of J. A. Johnston of this place. His death occurred at a hospital at Kirksville, Missouri, Friday eveneing. Mr. Johnston who was eighty years of age, was born March 22, 1850 in Ireland and came to the United States in 1872. In 1877 he was united in marriage to Miss Jane Irvine at Lincoln, Illinois. They came to Story county and settled on a farm two miles east of Zearing where they lived until 1903. Then the family moved to Knox City, Mo. and there Mr. Johnston continued to make his home until death. Mrs. Johnston preceded him in death two years ago.

Five children survive the father J. A. Johnston of Zearing, Mrs. Elizabeth Scott of Ames, Frank Johnston of Blue Earth Minn., Marvin Johnston of Sherburn, Minn., and Mrs. Anna Killen of Knox City, Mo. There are also several grandchildren and one sister who will mourn his loss.

Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon at the Church of Christ. The sermon was preached by Rev. Charles Showalter, pastor of the church. The pall bearers were R. L. Golly, G. F. McBride, M. E. Dakin, E. L. Perry, Harry Wolford and Frank Perry.

The flowers were cared for by Mrs. G. B. Womeldorff and Mrs. O. P. Abbey. Interment was made at the Zearing cemetery beside the wife and mother.
