PIONEER FARMER CALLED BY DEATH

CHRISTIAN E. TYSDAHL HAD LIVED AROUND RADCLIFFE MANY YEARS

Special to the Journal.
Radcliffe, Oct. 9--In the death of Christian E. Tysdahl, 80, at his home in Radcliffe, October 2, this community loses one of its longtime residents, having come out here from Chicago in 1886. Mr. Tysdahl suffered a stroke of apoplexy about 3:00 in the morning and passed away at 4:15 that afternoon.

Christian Evenson Tysdahl was born in Aardal, Norway, October 30, 1850, and was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in his native land. He came to America in March 1884, and located first in Chicago, where he was married June 18, of the same year to Miss Olava Mosness.

They continued their home in Chicago until March of 1886, when they came out to Iowa and settled on a farm seven miles southwest of Radcliffe where they resided until March 1896, when they moved upon another farm which he had continued to own. There they live until March 1, 1920, when they retired and moved into Radcliffe. There they lived in comfort until the stroke which caused his death.

He laves his wife and eight children, one daughter, having preceded him in death at the age of 3 months.

The children are: Mrs. Martha Newhall of Radcliffe, Mrs. Mabel Bishop of Alden, Mrs. Eva Orton of Williams, Peter Tysdahl and Clara Elwick of Radcliffe, Ed of Iowa Falls, Alfred of Marshalltown and Gene of Radcliffe and fifteen grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Olaus, of Chicago, two sisters, Mrs. Maria Mortvedt of Elmore, Minn., and Mrs. Karina Hetland of Radcliffe.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters, Peter Tysdahl, Lene Tysdahl and Even Tysdalhl, all of Norway, Mrs. Nalene Hegland of Goodell, Mrs. Sena Thompson of Radcliffe, and Mrs. Ingeborg Fenimore of Chicago.
