GRADE CROSSING ACCIDENT FATAL
HAMILTON COUNTY FARMER DIED FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED IN CRASH
Special to the Journal.
Story City, Oct. 7--Fatally injured when he drove his auto into a Northwestern train on a grade crossing Saturday afternoon, Jacob Olson, 55, farmer and Spanish-American was veteran of near Randall, died a few hours later at the Story City hospital.Heading south toward the run in the road south of Randall, he failed to see the oncoming train, northbound to Randall. Apparently Mr. Olson drove onto the crossing facing squarely in the direction from which the train was coming.
Severe injuries to his head were the result of the accident and he was rushed to the hospital here immediately where he died about 1:30 o'clock Saturday night.
Mr. Olson leaves a wife and eight children to mourn his untimely death.
