FINCHAM DEAD; BURIAL WEDNESDAY

LONG PROMINENT CITIZEN OF FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP AND AMES

Special to the Journal.
Ames, Sept. 23--Funeral services for Benjamin F. Fincham, 78, who died at his home at 721 Kellogg avenue early Monday, from a stroke of apoplexy, will be held at the Adams Funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 with Arcadia Lodge A. F. & A. M. in charge. Interment will be in the family lot in the cemetery at Gilbert. Mr. Fincham had bee ill but a week, having suffered a stroke September 14.

Mr. Fincham was born in McLean county, Illinois, on November 30, 1852. On September 9, 1883, he was married to Miss Ellen Bishop, who survives him. In March, 1894, the Fincham family moved to a farm near Gilbert where they remained until 1915 when they moved to Ames.

Besides his wife he is survived by one brother, L. S. Fincham, Colfax, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. W. H. Reedy, Bloomington, Ill.; Mrs. Laura Gatlif, Lexington, Nebr.; and Mrs. Martha Cothren, Gibson City, Ill.; and five sons, P. W., C. L. and R. R. Fincham, all of Gilbert; Frank M. Fincham of Boone and Guy B. Fincham of Sioux City, Imogene, a daughter died in 1901 at the age of 10.

Mr. Fincham was active in Masonic circles here for many year. He was illustrious master of Gebal council No. 5, Royal and Select Masters, in 1922, and at the time of his death was serving his eleventh year as a trustee of Arcadia lodge. He has also held offices of one capacity or another in Joshua chapter since 1916 and has bee sentinel of Ascension commandery since the time of its charter in 1921.
