PIONEER ZEARING WOMAN IS DEAD

MRS. SARAH DAVIS BROWN DIED IN HOSPITAL AT CLINTON

Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Aug. 8--Mrs. Sarah Davis-Brown, a former pioneer woman of this community, died Tuesday afternoon at a hospital at Clinton where she had submitted to an operation for gall stones the day preceeding. Mrs. Brown was the widow of Sam Davis and well know in this community She came to Story county from Clinton with her husband and family in the spring of 1880 and had lived in this community until three years ago when she married Jerry Brown and went to Genoe, Ill., to make her home. Mr. Davis died at this place October 4, 1914.

She was the mother of eight children by the first marriage and one stepson, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Rose Barnhill of Rockwell, Roy M. Davis, Zearing, Everett Davis, Elgin, Ill., Mrs. Edith Moon, Crystal Lake, Minn., Guy Davis, Mason City, Art Davis, Crow Agency, Mont., Mrs. Maude Haskins, Marshlltown, Mrs. Grace Nielson, Clinton, and the stepson Bert Davis of this place. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Emma Burdick of Genoe, Illinois, and one brother Will Wright of Wisconsin. Funeral services were held at this place today at 2:30 o'clock at the Evangelical Church and interment will be at the Zearing cemetery.
