EDWARD BASEY DIED AT COLLINS
HAD BEEN LONG TIME RESIDENT OF THAT PART OF COUNTY
Special to the Journal.
Collins, May 23--Edward Vasey, 47, well known farmer of north of town an a son of a pioneer family of the community, died late Thursday evening from stomach trouble and other complications, from which he had been a sufferer for some time.The funeral service will be held at the Collins Church of Christ Saturday afternoon at 2:00, after which interment will be in the Collins cemetery. The service will be in charge of Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada.
Mr. Vasey was born in Morgan county, Illinois, October 28, 1883, a son of John and Mary Vasey. He came wit the family to this community when a boy and lived here the balance of his life.
He was united in marriage to Clara Halterman October 28, 1904 and to them eight children were born, all of whom, with the mother survive the father. The children are Robert of Collins, Mrs. Maude Sager of near Collins, Mrs. Hazel Milligan of near Baxter, Mrs. Belle Newhard of Pontiac, Mich., Mrs. Opal Gardner, Morris, Lawrence and Warren. The latter two are twins and live at home.
Besides these he leaves his aged mother Mrs. Nancy Vasey, four brothers and five sisters. The brothers are William of northern Iowa and Joseph, George and James of Collins, while the sisters are Mrs. Rebecca Bloomfield of Maxwell, Mrs. Rose Franklin of Collins, Mrs. Lou Franklin of Collins, Mrs. Clara Backus and the younger sister, Ada.
