DR. FAIRCHILD, A PIONEER PHYSICIAN

FORMER RESIDENT OF STORY COUNTY DIED AT HIS HOME AT CLINTON

Clinton, March 24--INS--Funeral services [----- ---- ----] held here at 2 o'clock [--- ----] Dr. David S. Fairfield [was a member] of the Journal of the Iowa Medical Society and [---- -------- ------] the Iowa State Medical Society and the Western Surgical Association.

Dr. Fairfield [made] his home [-- ------]

He was born at Fairfield, Vt. in 1847 and graduated from Albany College, Albany, N. Y. in 1868.

In 1877 he was on the faculty of Iowa State college and 5 years later became president of the Iowa College of Physicians and Surgeons at Des Moines. He was president of the State Medical society in 1895 and of the Western Surgical group in 1898.

He is well known in practice and as the author of medical articles.

Dr. Fairfield is survived by his wife, two daughters and one son.
