Special to the Journal.
Slater, Jan. 3--Relatives and friends were shocked and saddened by the news of the death of Fred Brown, age 38, of Jackson, Minnesota, who died January 2 at Bethel Hospital, Mountain Lake, Minnesota, following a series operation for ruptured appendicitis. He lived three days after the operation. Funeral services were held here Monday afternoon at one and two o'clock at the Lincoln church. The services were in charge of his pastor, Rev. A. M. The funeral offerings were unusually beautiful. A quartette, composed of Mrs. Harry Lundahl, Mrs. Edwin Sundberg, Raymond Engstrom and C. Cleven of the St. John Lutheran church of Madrid, sang, "Tell It To Jesus" and "Home Of The Soul", accompanied by Miss Helen Seberg.

A duet, "No Disappointment In Heaven" was sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson. Six cousins served as pall bearers, Milford and Ossey Brown of Slater, T. and C. Thompson of Eagle Grove, J. E. and Andrew Sheldahl of Kelley. Interment was made in the Slater cemetery.
