Donald “Don” Eugene Moore, 88, of Nevada, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Don was born July 5, 1929, in Walnut, Iowa the son of John A. and Ella D. (Kobs) Moore. He graduated from Lewis High School in 1947 and served in the United States Army from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953. On December 20, 1965, Don was united in marriage to Mary Lea Corbin in Colo. He worked in construction for most of his life. Don was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada and the Griswold Legion.

Don enjoyed gardening and canning, making homemade candy, hunting, camping and fishing. He also liked playing cribbage. Don loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary of Nevada; his daughters: Royce Hickie of Ankeny and Ronda (Todd) Hoing of Grimes; his grandchildren: Bryant (Sarah) Hickie of West Des Moines, Tray Hickie of Marshalltown and Peyton Hoing of Grimes; and his sisters: Jean Scheridan of Clearwater, FL and Frances Cooper of Atlantic. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Janet Radford and Dorothy “Dottie” Monteith.

Memorial visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 5 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6 at Memorial Lutheran Church (701 11th Street) in Nevada with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial with military honors will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 7 at Layton Township Cemetery near Walnut, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Lutheran Church in memory of Don.

Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
