ROLAND WOMAN
DIED SATURDAYMrs. Odne Howen, 71, died at her home in Roland Saturday evening at 10:30 after an illness dating from early in November.
Mrs Malinda Jondall-Duea-Howen had been a resident of this community since a child of four years, when she came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Jondall to Roland from Orland, Norway, where she was born March 2, 1866.
She was married to Joseph Duea, son of another pioneer Roland family, April 14, 1883, and 13 children were born to them, all surviving the parents.
The surviving children are: Anna Mae Duea, Mrs Bert Britson and Victor Duea, all of Roland; Jonas Duea of Dell Rapids, S. D.; H. Duea of Ames; Mrs. Frank Tallman of Iowa City; Mrs. Lowell Harris of Nevada; Mrs. Earl Stout and Benjamin Duea of Valley Junction, Mrs. Theo. Lewison of Graettinger; Joseph Duea of Washington, Iowa; Mrs. Russ Eackers [Eaker] of Spring Valley, Cal.; and Virgil Duea of Clarion.
Joseph Duea died in 1912 and she was married to Odne Howen on October 16, 1926.
She is survived by her husband, Mr. Howen, the thirteen children, 25 grandchildren, brothers Sam H. Jondall of Roland and Ed P. Jondall of Bemidji, Minn., and sisters, Mrs. C. O. Christian of Minnesota and Mrs. J. M. Christian of north of Nevada.
