Clayton Doyle Miller, 73 of Colo, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at his home in Colo.

Clayton was born April 25, 1944, in Story City, the son of Clifton and Esther (Oakland) Miller. He attended Randall Schools and graduated from Story City High School. Clayton served in the United States Army from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1970. On September 26, 1968, Clayton was united in marriage to Cheryl Thompson in Omaha, NE. He worked for the Iowa DOT as a mechanic before opening Miller Auto Clinic in 1973 and later opening Miller Auto Rebuilds. He was affiliated with the Colo United Methodist Church and enjoyed working on cars, going to auctions and garage sales.

Clayton is survived by his daughters: Kristin (Scott) Starling of Colo and Amy (Larry) Edel of Colo; his mother, Esther Miller of Story City; his grandchildren: Alex Powell (Baillie), Michael Starling (Shelby), McKenzie, Gabriel, Hannah and Madison Starling, Logan (Kate) Edel and Colby (Ashlee) Edel; his brother, Dick (Carolyn) Miller of Neola, IA; and his sisters: Pat Anderson of Coralville, IA, Cindy (Charlie) Herleman of Denver, CO and Robin Jaquis of Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife.

A celebration of life will be 11-5 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Colo Community Center in Colo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in Clayton’s memory.
