From Fredregill Family Funeral Home obituary, Collins and Zearing, Story County, Iowa:

Ruth Gogerty, age 89, was called to her heavenly home Saturday, April 7 after a lengthy illness. Ruth Ann Kadolph , the daughter of Raymond and Linda (Granner) Kadolph, was born on June 30, 1928 at Eldora, Iowa and spent her early youth on a farm south of Hubbard. It was a time when girls played with mud pies and wore dresses made from colorful feed sacks. From her childhood, Ruth knew what her vocation in life was to be, a wife and mother and servant of the Lord. She graduated from Eldora High School in 1945, and from beautician school in Des Moines in 1946. She practiced as a beautician in Eldora before marrying N. Patrick Gogerty on June 23, 1948. Pat and Ruth made their home on the Gogerty farm south of Hubbard where they raised their nine children: Terry (Annette), Fort Collins, Colorado; Mike, Ames; Tim (Brenda), Hubbard; Joe (Pam), Algona; Susan Tjelmeland (Mike), Ames; Dennis (Carmen), New Providence; Paul (Bonnie) Osage; Jack (Cida), Buckeye, Arizona; and Nancy Gord (Tim), Louisville, Kentucky.

Legend has it that as a young girl, Ruth introduced herself when she was six years old to her future father-in-law, Berry (Pappy) Gogerty, by saying "My name is Ruthie, and some day I'm going to have lots of babies." That prediction of a beautiful vocation came true when she met and married "the boy next door", Pat Gogerty, son of Berry. Neither of them would have guessed just how true that would be or that those babies would be some of Pappy's grandchildren!

Pat and Ruth farmed in partnership with Pat's brother Rex and wife Kay until Pat died in 1981. Ruth continued to live on the farm until her illness required moving to assisted living in Ames in 2002. Ruth loved her children, 24 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren and was always happy to have visitors. She lived her life joyfully and never complained when things were tough.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pat; sisters Edna, Betty, Audrey and brother Lawrence, granddaughter Michelle, and great-granddaughter Adalyn. She is survived by her sister Gail, sister-in-law Doris, brother-in-law Rex, sister-in-law Kay, all nine children, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 4:30 -7:00 p.m. at the St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Zearing, Iowa. A rosary will follow visitation and begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, April 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Zearing, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Lincoln Township Cemetery, in Zearing, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Ruth's name to Catholic Charities or the Israel Family Hospice House.

Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care, in Zearing, has been entrusted with the care of Ruth and her family.
