Bob Reineke passed from this life on February 8, 2018 at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames, Iowa. A private interment ceremony will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

Robert "Bob" Arthur Reineke was born November 9, 1941 to Donald and Elnora (Thompson) Reineke in Carroll, Iowa. Bob was raised in Faribault, Minnesota and graduated from Faribault High School. He received both his bachelor and doctorate degrees from the University of Minnesota.

Bob was a decorated Naval Officer who achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was a top gun naval aviator flying A-4Skyhawk fighter jets off of the USS Lexington. He was stationed in Saigon during the Vietnam War serving his country as an intelligence officer. Following his military service, Bob pursued his profession as an educational researcher and retired in that capacity from Lincoln Public Schools in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he taught statistics and research courses. Bob loved to write and was a published author. He also enjoyed boating and fishing, and playing bridge, golf and tennis. He was a devoted father and grandfather.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jackie Reineke of Ames; his children, Lindsay (Aaron) Peterson of San Diego, Calif. and Blaise (Kelly) Reineke of Lincoln; his step-daughters, Joanna (Brian) Anderson of Nevada and Jennifer Pelz of Ames; nine grandchildren, Augustus Peterson, Harrison and Franklin Reineke, Aidan, Liam, Avery and Evelyn Anderson, and Stella and Luke Reynoldson; his sister, Joan (Jim) Saufferer of Prior Lake, Minn.; his niece, Jodi (John) Guentzel of Lakeview, Minn.; and his nephew, John (Vivi) Saufferer of Lakeview.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made in Bob’s name to the charity of your choice.
