August 4, 1931 - December 1, 2017
From: Nevada, IAPatricia E. Hutchison, age 86, of Nevada, died Friday, December 1, 2017, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, surrounded by her loving family.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1110 10th Street, Nevada, with Fr. Rick Dagit officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Nevada at a later date. Memorial visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services.
Born August 4, 1931, in Maxwell, Iowa, Patricia Ellen (Carney) Hutchison was the daughter of Virgil and Irma Isabelle (Brown) Carney. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1950. Pat married Jack LaMonte Hutchison in Albert Lea, Minnesota. In 1971, they divorced.
Pat was employed by the Department of Transportation for 40 years, retiring in 1990. She worked in various departments over the years, including marketing and drafting, but her artistic ability and knack for precision helped her excel at map lettering. Pat enjoyed exercise and working at Curves in Nevada. Through the years she enjoyed bowling, traveling, baking, and birdwatching, but most of all spending time with family and friends.
Following retirement, she moved to Edgerton, Missouri, for several years. It was there that she and Jack reunited and remarried on August 29, 1992, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Survivors include her sister, Kathleen Valline of Nevada; a brother, Michael (Nancy) Carney of Newton; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 2015; her parents; a sister, Judy, in infancy; and three brothers, James, Lowell, and David Carney.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Patricia and her family.
