Linda Diane (Thompson) Mortvedt, 66, of Ames passed away December 25, 2017 at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 411 3rd Ave, Slater, IA 50244. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service at Kelley City Cemetery.
Linda was born March 29, 1951 to parents Myron and Fern (Rathbun) Thompson of Kelley, IA. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1969. On July 26, 1969 she married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth Mortvedt, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, IA. They went on to have three children together. She worked for Mary Greeley Medical Center for close to three decades as a medical transcriptionist.
She spent a lot of her spare time in retirement crafting and sewing and liked making things for her grandchildren. She was an avid Iowa State fan, and especially enjoyed cheering on the Iowa State University Men’s Basketball team. Whenever possible, she loved spending time at the beach and often travelled to Mexico with Kenny and their family. In recent years, their dog, Boo Boo, was also a trusted travel companion.
She is survived by her supportive husband Ken Mortvedt, of Ames, IA; three children, Aaron (Blakely) Mortvedt, of Ames, IA, Nathan Mortvedt, of Oregon, and Dena Boelman, of Springfield, IL; grandchildren Chloe, Devon, Nina, Catherine, Emma, and Alexis; sisters Donna (Larry) Kallem, of Ames, IA, Denise (Rich) Thompson, of Custer, SD; brother Duane (Sandra) Thompson, of Kelley, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
