Lucile E. Reed
February 7, 1934 - November 7, 2017Lucile "Luci" Reed, 83, of Zearing, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Zearing Health Care Center in Zearing. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Fredregill Funeral Home, in Zearing, from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Bethel United Methodist Church on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Tom Poppe officiating. Burial will follow in the Lincoln Township Cemetery in Zearing, Iowa.
Luci was born on February 7, 1934 to Everett and Laureen (Reed) Wickham in her grandmother's house in Radcliffe, Iowa. Luci attended and graduated from Zearing High School in 1951. She married Ronald "Duane" Reed at the Evangelical United Bethel Church (now the Bethel United Methodist Church) on November 22, 1951. The couple moved to California while Duane was in the service but returned to Zearing to raise their family once he was honorably discharged. They were both lifelong Zearing community leaders and Luci served as the Mayor of Zearing for 17 years. She served on the Zearing First Responders for many years. Luci was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Zearing, American Legion Auxiliary, Civic Improvement Club, and the Sorosis Club. Luci enjoyed spending time with her family, and watching her grandkids activities.
Those left to cherish her loving memory are her children Roxanne Mehlisch, and Rick (Penney) Reed; grandchildren Brian Mehlisch, Michelle Mehlisch, Stacie (Erick) Hill, Jennifer (Mark) Britten, Robbie (Jeff) Anderson, and Ryan Reed; great-grandchildren Devan, Taylor, Lauryn, Jenna, Hunter, Addison, Trevor, and Emma; sisters Dorothy Hill, Eloise (Merle) Bauer, and Jane (Ray) Klemme; brother Bob (Ginger) Wickham; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; husband Duane; son-in-law Gary Mehlisch; brother-in-law John Hill; and sister-in-law Charlotte Wickham.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the NESCO Family Medical Center.
Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing has been entrusted with the care of Luci and her family.
