Obituary From Adams Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story County, Iowa.

LaRie Michelle Sylte, age 41, passed away unexpectedly November 6, 2017 at her home in Ames, IA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 10 at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11 at Christ Community Church in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

LaRie Michelle Corbeille was born September 28, 1976 to Ronald Corbeille and Nancy Mihay Corbeille in Pontiac, Michigan. LaRie graduated from Springfield Christian Academy in Clarkston, MI in 1994, which she attended for her senior year to be with her brother, JaRel Corbeille. She was a devout Christian who, from a young age, focused on God, family and heritage. LaRie was an extremely creative, artistic and fun-loving soul who loved using her time, positivity, and many talents to help others both in her community and elsewhere. Music and dancing resonated in her heart, and she began singing in church at the age of 4 years, a talent that continued into her adulthood. She played piano, clarinet in marching band, wrote songs (performing an original at her own wedding), and later became a dance instructor for children in ballet, pointe, jazz and tap. She was a renaissance woman who loved red, white and blue, the Detroit Red Wings, and could also work on her own car (thanks Grandpa Mihay).

LaRie was extremely driven and had a passion for learning. While attending college she worked as a paramedic in the Pontiac, MI area, and went on to earn two Master’s Degrees in Healthcare Administration from Siena Heights University in Adrian, MI

LaRie and Matthew Sylte were married October 22, 2005 at Oakland Avenue Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Pontiac, Michigan. They moved to Athens, GA, and LaRie worked in the Human Subjects Office at the University of Georgia from 2006 to 2011. Soon after, they decided to start a family. LaRie was thrilled to devote her life to raising her children. She never missed an opportunity to read to her boys at bedtime, and took pride in watching their reading and writing skills improve. They lived in Athens, Georgia from 2005 to 2014 and moved to Ames in 2014 for Matthew’s work. LaRie attended Christ Community Church in Ames and loved walking around Ada Hayden Heritage Park with her family and friends. She enjoyed baking, crocheting and knitting (learned from her grandmother Marie Mihay), gardening, animals (especially Golden Retrievers), jazzercise, and couponing. LaRie generously supported many charities with the items she acquired through couponing, including creating hand-knit bags she stocked in her car to provide to the homeless food, water and toiletries. She quietly set an example of selfless love for both her friends, family, and even those she never knew. The hole she leaves in the world will be carried on by her friends and family who honor her memory through their good deeds.

LaRie is survived by her husband, Matthew Sylte and her boys, Henrik (7) and Eric (3) of Ames; her parents, Ronald and Nancy Corbeille of Waterford, Michigan; her brother, JaRel Corbeille of Nashville, Tennessee; and her cousin Jenee (Kramer) Hobgood of Savannah, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in LaRie's name to Hearts of Orphans at www.heartfororphans.com, a faith-based nonprofit organization serving orphaned children in Ukraine and beyond.
