Harlan Deloss Rasmusson, 83 of Nevada, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at his home in Nevada.

Harlan was born December 7, 1933, in Ames, the son of Chrissie E. and Mary (Wyatt) Rasmusson. He graduated from McCallsburg High School in 1953 and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany. On October 28, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Carpenter in Nevada. Harlan was a member of the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church and the William F. Ball Legion Post #48 in Nevada. He had farmed, and worked for Cooks Lime Quarry, Hallett Material and C&M Construction, retiring in 2003. Harlan enjoyed spending time with his family and his cat, Buddy.

Harlan is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lou of Nevada; his nephews: David (Liz) Rasmusson of Ames and Larry (Angela) Rasmusson of Nevada; his niece, Nikki (Clint) Ledbetter of Rush, Colorado; along with many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Harold in 2013.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 3 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada (1418 Fawcett Pkwy). Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 4, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery in Moingona.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Harlan.
