Obituary From Boeke Funeral Homes, Hardin County, Iowa.

Charlotte Joella (Frette) Friest was born on October 12, 1922, to Edward and Bertina Frette, at home on the farm, in Rosendale, near Story City, Iowa. Charlotte died on September 30, 2017 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA.

She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian Faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in rural Jewell, IA. She graduated from Story City High School. Charlotte was married to Floyd Friest on February 21, 1948. They were blessed with three sons. They farmed and resided on the family farm until retiring in 1979. They moved to Garden City in 1989 and Charlotte has called that home until her death.

Charlotte was blessed to be a blessing. She was active in her church with the Women’s Group, Sunday school, preparing and serving food, sending out bulletins to shut-ins, and helping wherever needed. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was full of energy and greeted everyone with a smile. She was also dedicated to her family and provided love and care to all. Grandma was one of her special names and found delight in her 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Kringla, brownies, cakes, lefsa, and coffee, were plentiful and enjoyed when visiting with Charlotte. She enjoyed decorating cakes, bowling, and visiting with friends wherever they may be (like the post office).

Charlotte is survived by her children: Greg (Shelley) Friest of rural Radcliffe; Bruce (Kathy) Friest of Ankeny; daughter-in-law Sue Friest of Ankeny; grandchildren, Justin (Sandy) Friest of Polk City, Erin Friest (James Martin) of Ankeny, Heather Friest, of Nevada, Dr. Staci (Nick) Kinzebach of Cedar Falls, Clint Friest of rural Radcliffe; Kari (Joe) Bethel, Brian (Kelli) Friest, Paul (Tara) Friest, all of Ankeny; great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Nathan Friest, of Polk City; William and Wyatt Bethel of Ankeny; Weston and Beau Friest of Ankeny; and Mason and Logan Friest of Ankeny; Two brothers, Merle Frette, and Bennett Frette, of Story City, a sister-in-law, Charlotte Frette of Phoenix, AZ along with many other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
