OBITUARY--ED R. CHILD.
Edgar Ruben Child was born in Nevada Jan. 6, 1877 and died at his home in Colo Jan. 17, 1913. He was married to Miss Dora Maiers July 25, 1900. To this union was born one son Raymond Edgar who is now 2 1/2 years old. Mr. Child has spent the most of his life in Story County. He had held a position in G. B. Grangers store for some time where he was highly esteemed by everyone he came in contact with as he always had a pleasant smile and kindly word for every one and was always ready to do more than his duty. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and little son, his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Child of Ames, two brothers Earl and Frank of Ames, four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Perry of Ames, Mrs. Mabel Barger of Marshalltown, Mrs. Mollie Arnold of Ames and Mrs. Alice Hewitt of Green Mountain, his grand parents Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Crippen of Nevada and numerous other relatives besides a host of friends. He was a member of the Order of Mystic Workers.
Funeral services were held in the M. E. church Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. G. A. Jobeson. Interment was made at Colo Cemetery. The relatives from a distance present at the funeral were the parents and grand parents and brothers and sisters already mentioned who were accompanied by their wives and husbands with one or two exceptions, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smay (an aunt and uncle) of Nevada, Mr. and Mrs. George York (Mrs. Child's sister), Irene Melbourne, Mr. Delmore (a cousin) from Green Mountain, Messrs. Willard and Geo. Pierce of Le Grand, cousins and several other distant relatives and friends.
The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved ones.
His death was due to a complication of diseases which followed an attack of the grippe. He was sick only a week.

Whereas, it has pleased the Allwise and Supreme Creator to remove from our midst our late brother Edgar R. Child, and,
Whereas, it is but lust and nature that we express our recognition of his many virtues:
Therefore, be it Resolved by Colo Dodge Number 151 Mystic Workers of the World that, while we humbly bow to the Divine Will, we sincerely mourn the loss of our worthy brother,
Resolved, that in his death we, individually and collectively have sustained a loss of one who was most highly esteemed in this lodge, a friend and companion who was dear to all, a citizen whose upright life was recognized by all who knew him,
Resolved, that the heartfelt sympathy of this lodge be extended to his family in their affliction,
Resolved, that these resolution be spread upon the records of this lodge, a copy transmitted to the family and to the Colo Representative for publication.
