OBITUARY

Funeral of Rev. Matheny

The funeral of Rev. R. W. Matheny, late pastor of the Methodist church of this city, was conducted Wednesday morning from his own pulpit with very fitting ceremonies. There was a large attendance abundant evidence of the most profound sorrow and exceptionally beautiful and elaborate floral offerings. The services were a composite, the leading address being made by Elder Holmes and while Elder Ilgan-Fritz read the obituary. Rev. Kirkendall of Ames offered the prayer. Rev. Johnson of Cambridge read the scripture lesson and Attorney C. H. Hall of his city spoke for the congregation. The music was by the church choir and a special feature was a solo by Mrs. Legore of Jefferson. Altogether it was a very fine and much deserved tribute to the deceased pastor. Member of the family including the son, Asbury, who arrived Tuesday night from Washington, departed with the body on the forenoon train for Des Moines and Indianola and were accompanied by E. A. Fawcett, H. G. Ambrose and Mrs. Legore. The interment took place Wednesday afternoon at Indianola, and the funeral party returned on the late train from Des Moines.
