Ruth Marjaleen Provow went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 27, 2017.

Ruth was born on 11/17/1925 near Gus, Iowa in Taylor County to Ronald and Myrtle (Walker) Gladson. She grew up on a farm east of Atlantic Iowa were she was active in 4H. She graduated from Atlantic High School, where Ruth excelled at school, placing in the top 10 for the State Exams. Following high school graduation she moved to Ames to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Child Development from ISU. Upon graduation she was one of the first play therapist at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore Maryland. While attending ISU she met the love of her life Doug Provow. Ruth and Doug were united in marriage on 6/18/1950. Ruth was the proud mother of 3 children. The family remained in Ames, and Ruth was a homemaker guiding the children and maintaining the family home.

She was actively involved in the community and her neighborhood. Ruth was a compassionate and caring soul, she was involved in many organizations in the Collegiate United Methodist Church, and would take flowers to the church members who were unable to attend services. She knitted prayer shawls for individuals in need. She gave books and materials to an orphanage in India that her sister and husband started. She volunteered at Mary Greeley Hospital where she pushed the hospitality cart and manned an information booth. She was fond of children and volunteered to read to the second grade class at Edwards Elementary School for many years.

Ruth was fascinated by birds and butterflies, she had an extensive collection of butterflies.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and her sister.

Ruth is survived by her husband Doug, Daughters Sue (Bill) Inks, Cheryl (Steve) Wall, son Ron (Maureen) Provow, grandchildren David, Jackie, Bill, Ross and Elizabeth and great grand children Caryn, Isabelle, Ellie and Logan.
