Tichenor Funeral Services Held at Calvary Evangelical

Colo, May 7--Funeral services were held for Oliver Tichenor Saturday at 2:30 p. m. The services were conducted by Rev. E. H. Orr. The pall bearers were Guy Smith, Earl Wright, Roger Hopkins, Ross White, Will Donaldson, and Walter Bamford.

The many beautiful flowers were in charge of Mrs. Vega Hopkins and Mrs. Mabel Lund. Music was furnished by a male quartet including LuVern Horner, Jim Lounsberry, Charles Lehman, and Mark Wilson and a vocal solo by Charles Hall of Nevada.

Burial was made in the old Evangelical cemetery south of Nevada which is near the birthplace of the deceased.

Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Channing Tichenor, a niece and her daughter, Mrs. Edna Hickman of Agra, Okla.; Mrs. Ed Coxworth son Lee and wife of Guckeen, Minn.; Will Johnson, wife and grandson of Perry; Mr. and Mrs. Del Hendricks and daughter; Miss Grace Baty; the three Yates sisters who are nieces, of Des Moines; Mrs. John Whitaker and son Harold of Mitchellville.

Oliver Tichenor, son of Joseph and Martha Tichenor went to his eternal rest on April 30, 1941, at the age of 71 years, 6 months and 23 days.

He was born and raised on the Tichenor homestead south of Nevada, Ia., which is now the home of his only nephew, George L. Tichenor and his son Carlton. He was a member of the Evangelical church for over 50 years.

On March 17, 1891, he was united in marriage to Hattie Whitaker. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Mar. 17, 1941. he had been in poor health for the past year. His father, mother, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death, he being the last of his family to depart from this life. He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife and nephew George Tichenor, besides a host of relatives and friends. His parting leaves an empty place in the lives of many that can never be filled by another.
