OBITUARY
Death of Mrs. Hanks.
Mrs. Dewitt Hanks of Cambridge died at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, Sunday, December 1, aged nearly fifty seven years. The deceased had been a great sufferer for twenty-one years. About three months ago she was relieved by surgery of a cystic tumor weighing 181 pounds and it was hoped for a while that the operation would afford her new lease of life. Disappointment and decline followed, however and she died as stated. She was a native of Indianapolis and was married October 16th, 1871, at Nevada, to Clinton Dewitt Hanks. The husband and their son Ed. C. and their daughters, Mrs Clara B. Brown and Mrs. Lou Harrison of Shipley, and Misses Alice and Dessie Hanks survive her. Her funeral was held Wednesday at the U. B. church.
