OBITUARY

W. T. JOHN

Uncle "Tip" John is no more and he is to greatly missed. The genial old man died suddenly at Collins Tuesday morning June 25, at the ripe old age of 74 years, 4 months and 20 days. Ir was known that he had been ailing for some time, but the end was not expected so soon by his friends. The funeral was conducted at the Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon by Rev. J. B. White, and the interment was at Maxwell, in accordance with arrangements which had been specified by the deceased.

Mr. John was born in 1833 in Carroll county, Indiana; and was married in 1851 to Miss Anna J. Brown. In 1853 he made a prospecting tour in Iowa and the following year became settler in the south part of Story county where he has ever since resided. His wife and four daughters survive him. The latter are Mrs. Rebecca McConnell and Mrs. Martha E. Finnie of Collins; Mrs. Elizabeth Osborn of Kansas and Mrs. Clarinda Hall of Boz, South Dakota.
