Obituary from Memorial Services of Iowa, Ankeny, Polk County, Iowa:

Doris Arlene Nickel (95) of Cambridge, Iowa entered her eternal home on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Taylor House in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born October 15, 1921 in Stoughton, Wisconsin to Ray and Irene Champney. Doris graduated from Stoughton High School in 1939, Moody Bible Institute in 1942 and was married for 47 years to Ben J. Nickel of Mountain Lake, Minnesota.

Doris is survived by her children; daughter-in-law Anita Nickel, Jacksonville, Florida; daughters, Irene McHone (Ron) Cambridge, Iowa; Mary Alice Baker (Norm) Belton, Missouri; Esther Decker (Randy) Belton, Missouri; and son Richard Nickel (Heather) Glen Ellyn, Illinois, 19 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Ben J. Nickel, son Ray Nickel, and granddaughter Kimberly McHone. Doris dedicated her entire life to prayer, encouragement and serving others.

Visitation will be at Ankeny Memorial Funeral Home, Ankeny, Iowa, Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held at Berean Assembly of God Church, Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Monday, April 10 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside service will be Tuesday, April 11 at Mt. Lake, Minnesota at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Avant Ministries of Kansas City, Missouri or Berean Assembly of God Church of Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
