Karen was born September 15, 1941 to Helen (Maas) and Maynard J. Siegenthaler. She graduated from Menlo Community School in 1960 and married the love of her life Ronald Wren June 2, 1968. This June would have been their 49th anniversary together.
Karen worked for many years as a secretary in several places around central Iowa. She had a number of passions, one of which was books. She was avid reader and had a rather extensive collection. Karen also had a system for picking books. She would read the first and last chapter. If the ending wasn't good, the book was ditched. She enjoyed doing many word searches, and tending to her plants and flowers as well. She collected many angels too.
She had a very kind soul, and was cherished by her family and friends, always putting others first. The memories of her will be in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her husband Ron of Ames; daughter, Linda Wren, of Utah; two grandchildren, Audrey (Carlos) Magdeleno of Utah, and Erin (Jeremy) Madson of Texas; great-grandchildren, Alex, Carmyn, and Dexter; sister, Donna "Marjean" (John) Fawcett of Ames; aunt, Evelyn Maas of Stuart; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Wren of Virginia; sister-in-law, Alfie Terrones of Waterloo. Along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and her friends, Iva Mae Howard and Bernadine Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; son, Michael J. Wren; in-laws, Clyde and Mary Wren; and brother-in-law, Keith Wren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association or the American Lung Association.
